Gas Safe Engineer - East Sussex

Location: England, South East England, East Sussex

Job Type: Permanent, expected to work Full-Time hours

Salary: £38,000.00 - £44,000.00 Per annum

Job Duties:

  • Conducting gas safety inspections and maintenance for residential and commercial properties in East Sussex
  • Performing installation, repair, and servicing of gas appliances and systems
  • Identifying and resolving gas-related issues and emergencies
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards
  • Providing exceptional customer service and maintaining professional relationships with clients
  • Accurately documenting work performed, including inspections, repairs, and installations
  • Keeping up-to-date with industry developments, regulations, and best practises
  • Collaborating with other team members and contractors as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a gas engineer, preferably in a similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of gas systems, appliances, and safety procedures
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work

Education:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Relevant technical certifications or qualifications

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting gas safety inspections and maintenance
  • Proven track record in installation, repair, and servicing of gas appliances and systems

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of gas systems, appliances, and associated regulations
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot gas-related issues
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and best practises
  • Proficient in using tools and equipment required for gas engineering work
  • Strong organisational and time management skills

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily working on-site at residential and commercial properties in East Sussex
  • Physical demands may include heavy lifting and working in confined spaces
  • May require occasional travel to client locations within the region
  • Full-Time position with regular working hours, occasional overtime may be required

    Role Overview:
    This role involves a combination of planned maintenance, installations, and fault-finding across a range of commercial gas appliances and some HVAC equipment.     • Install and replace HVAC appliances, including pipework and plumbing as part of small works projects.
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in various heating and cooling systems.
    • Write and develop Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for safe working practices.
    • Maintain accurate service records using internal systems.
    • Participate in out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Experience with both commercial and domestic heating systems, including installation and maintenance of HVAC equipment.
    • Commercial Gas Safe certification is essential.
    • Knowledge of plumbing and pipework installation.
    • Understanding of heating systems within residential and commercial environments.
    • Ability to write RAMS and Safe Systems of Work.

    • Full driving licence and willingness to travel.
    • Enhanced DBS check required for work in schools and colleges.
