The Job: Project Engineer – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) As a Project Engineer, you will play a vital role in designing and delivering cutting-edge BESS solutions, working across the full project lifecycle. This is a hands-on, dynamic role where you’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to projects ranging from 10MW to 100MW, helping to drive the UK’s transition to net-zero energy. What You’ll Do: Design & Engineering: Support the design and technical specifications of BESS projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements. Project Coordination: Facilitate design reviews, coordinate with contractors and consultants, and maintain project documentation. Technical Oversight: Review and approve technical documentation, conduct risk assessments, and propose solutions for electrical systems. Compliance & Quality: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards while implementing quality control measures. Site Support: Provide technical assistance during installation and commissioning, ensuring project specifications are met. What We’re Looking For: Strong understanding of electrical systems (LV/HV) and battery technology. Proficiency in engineering design tools such as AutoCAD. Familiarity with UK electrical standards and regulations (BS 7671, 18th Edition). Experience with grid-connected systems and knowledge of grid services like Frequency Response and Energy Arbitrage. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including contractors and consultants, with excellent communication skills. Relevant qualifications in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems and at least 2 years’ experience in the energy or renewable sector. The Job: As Project Manager, you’ll oversee every phase of project delivery, from initial planning through to commissioning and handover. Leading a dedicated team, including a Project Engineer and Construction Project Manager, you’ll ensure smooth execution of high-value projects, aligning with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and financial goals. What You’ll Do: Take ownership of the entire project lifecycle, managing budgets (£10m+), schedules, and strategies to meet technical and commercial objectives. Oversee construction and commissioning, ensuring quality and safety standards are met while addressing challenges proactively. Develop and maintain robust risk management plans, ensuring compliance with CDM and all regulatory requirements. Build strong relationships with contractors, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders, acting as the primary point of contact. Provide leadership and mentorship to your team, fostering collaboration and driving project success. What You’ll Bring: A proven track record in delivering BESS projects over 20MW, with hands-on experience managing CAPEX budgets of £10m+. Strong leadership skills, with experience in line management and stakeholder engagement. Familiarity with FEED processes and multi-contract delivery approaches.
