Design

  • All parts of the site use cascading style sheets for visual layout and design.
  • If your browser does not support stylesheets, all pages should still be readable.
  • Text is normally sized relatively, so it is possible to adjust the text size to your needs using your browser’s text sizing options.
  • To increase the size of text, or make the entire web page larger, use your browser’s zoom controls. On Windows the keyboard shortcut is Ctrl and + to increase or Ctrl and – to decrease; on Apple devices the equivalent is Cmd and + or Cmd and -.
  • HTML heading elements have been used for page structure, supporting assistive technologies that allow navigation from heading to heading.

Links

  • Where possible, links are written to make sense in context, and many include descriptive titles.

Images

  • Images include appropriate text alternatives, with descriptive ALT text on informative images and null ALT attributes on purely decorative ones.

Colour

  • Colour is not used as the sole means of conveying information, so all pages should be readable regardless of colour vision.
  • Foreground and background colours are intended to contrast well throughout the site.

Layout

  • The site is free of frames and uses CSS for visual layout.
  • Tables are used for tabular data only, rather than to control page layout.
  • The site has been tested to display correctly across a wide range of commonly used browsers.
